About SYNTHWERK
SYNTHWERK is the electronic music project of Georgia-born Raleigh, NC-based music producer Chris Cooley. Chris became obsessed with creating electronic music in 2018 and has since poured himself into the art.
Chris has been playing the acoustic and electric guitar since he was 16. He branched into synthesis over the last few years after falling in love with modular sound design. At 31, he is now pursuing a Bachelor of Arts at the Berklee College of Music, focusing on Music Production. He views his work in music as a never-ending educational and explorative journey.
Chris's sound encapsulates a vision that is both bold and adventurous. Working to delicately blend influences of modern Indie Pop, Classic Rock, and house music, his music has been described as having a "cosmic vibe with a tone-rich electric sound" and having "dreamy textures." Chris's work offers a fresh take on the EDM genre.
With an open mind and fierce curiosity for anything and everything electronic music-based, he has spent the last three years soaking up a multitude of genres and styles ranging from techno, house, trance, drum & bass, and hip-hop. Today, Chris works to push the boundaries of current electronic music trends, bringing back sonic textures typically found in classic rock from the '70s and '80s. With influences from today's artists such as Deadmau5, Elderbrook, Tycho, Canon's, Young the Giant, and more, you'd be hard-pressed to find a lack of diversity in his work.
Not being one to pigeonhole himself into a single genre, Chris also works in other styles such as singer-songwriter and Hip/Hop, Rap, R&B, Country, and more. To Chris, good music transcends genre; “good music is good music.” As Duke Ellington would say, "if it sounds good, it is good."
These days, Chris can be regularly found locked away in his bedroom turned studio, jamming together ideas and carving out his deep signature analog sound for his next upcoming release. While music is a relatively new venture for him, the challenge has without a doubt seen him progress wildly as an individual and as an artist.
SYNTHWERK’s first single, “Thunderstorms in Space,” brings a cosmic vibe with a tone-rich electric sound, offering a very fresh Melodic House sound. The track features superb sound design and a futuristic and enigmatic atmosphere with nice dreamy flavors.
